On the afternoon of July 22nd, our plane landed at Singapore・s Changi Airport. Although it was a cloudy day, our excited spirits could not be dampened. As we collected our luggage, we chatted away enthusiastically, looking forward to the packed schedule that awaited us, knowing this would certainly be a most fulfilling exchange trip.
On the first day, we travelled around Singapore, visiting Chinatown, the Gardens by the Bay, and Merlion Park. It was a great introduction to Singapore, and we checked in at the hotel tired but content. On the second day, we were warmly welcomed by the teachers and students of Mayflower Secondary School. They were most hospitable; our exchange buddies showed us around the school, and we attended lessons and Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) in the afternoon.

The next day, we took part in Mayflower・s Sports Carnival and immersed ourselves in the wide range of engaging indoor and outdoor activities. In the afternoon, we participated in the Centralized Program: Learning Journey together with all nine other exchange schools. The program successfully combined education with entertainment, ranging from making and trying out traditional Singaporean cuisine to an indoor interactive tour of Singapore・s history. It was a most enriching and inspiring event, further deepening our understanding of Singapore・s vibrant culture.

Over the following weekend, we travelled around Singapore with our host families, getting a taste of the daily life of Singapore locals. We also visited the Universal Studios theme park, which was great fun. On the last day of the exchange activities with the local school, we attended the Farewell Ceremony and said our most reluctant goodbyes to the Singaporean students and teachers. We returned to Hong Kong on July 28th.

This trip was incredibly fulfilling. It gave us a profound understanding of Singapore, and helped us improve important life skills like communication and self-reliance through personal experience rather than textbooks. The exposure to Singapore・s education system and dynamic social environment broadened our horizons, encouraging us to think more about our futures in this increasingly interconnected world. Although our stay was short, we made many like-minded friends among the local students. We all look forward to the coming of November when our exchange buddies will visit Hong Kong, and we hope they will leave Hong Kong fulfilled as well.
